Goldeyes Go To Bat For Local Breweries With New Craft Beer Corner
Whether or not you like sports, Goldeyes games have always been a perfect way to while away a pleasant summer evening in The Peg. The fact that the team is basically unbeatable doesn’t hurt, either.
But this year the club is taking things to the next level with their brand new Craft Beer Corner. Aptly named, the Craft Beer Corner will offer six taps, two of which will feature five local breweries (Barn Hammer, Little Brown Jug, Farmery, One Great City and Torque) for 10 home games each.
We’re excited to announce a new Craft Beer Corner for the upcoming season!🍻 All Manitoba based breweries including: 1⃣ @ogcbrewingco 2⃣ @littlebrownjugbrewing 3⃣ @barnhammerbrewing 4⃣ @torque_brewing 5⃣ @farmerybrewery Stay tuned for construction updates!👀 • • • #supportlocal #manitoba #winnipeg #craftbrew #beer #isitmayyet #shawpark #beer
In addition to showing the team’s support for local, the Craft Beer Corner will give Winnipeggers and tourists alike the opportunity to try some of the best brew our city has to offer.
“The Goldeyes have always supported local companies, including Fort Garry Brewing, Danny’s Whole Hog, Manitoba Pork, and Winkler Meats to name a few,” said Goldeyes’ general manager Andrew Collier. “We are very excited to provide our fans with the fantastic beer that Manitoba’s craft brewery scene has to offer. The new space will serve as a great meeting place fans can visit while enjoying a game.”
Once complete, the 1,400-square foot deck will extend from the main concourse across the top of Sections A and B down the left field line. Fans will have the opportunity to watch the game from the Craft Beer Corner, which will have stand-up tables and chairs, along with a unique view of the entire stadium.
Not surprisingly, the local brewers involved are ecstatic. Here’s what a few of them had to say about the new support-local initiative.
Tim Hudek, One Great City: “One Great City Brewing Co. is excited to be a part of the expanding partnership between Winnipeg sports and craft beer. We are proud to support our local champions, and look forward to another great season.”
Kevin Selch, Little Brown Jug: “I can’t think of a better way to enjoy a Goldeyes game than with a local Manitoba craft beer. Little Brown Jug is thrilled to be a part of this opportunity to be featured at Shaw Park.”

Johh Heim, Torque: “We are very pleased to be a part of the Goldeyes’ craft beer expansion. They have always supported the local beer scene and now, as the industry has grown, they continue to offer their guests top local choices for beer. Just one more reason to head down to the ballpark this summer.”
