La Poutine Week is Coming to Winnipeg and We're Already Drooling
We have some good news and we have some bad news.
The bad news is that your New Year’s resolution is about to go out the window. The good news is that it’ll be oh-so worth it.
From Feb. 1-7, Winnipeg will experience the gastronomical glory that is La Poutine Week. Brought to us by the guys behind Le Burger Week, La Poutine Week began back in 2012 in (where else?) Montreal. It has since grown to include more than 160 restaurants across 10 Canadian cities. Winnipeg alone has more than 80 (and counting) local restaurants signed up for the 2018 edition.

“Winnipeg has been a clear player in the success of Le Burger Week, where, each year, we are continuously amazed at the enthusiastic participation from the local restaurants, the chefs, and of course, the people,” says Na’eem Adam, co-founder of Le Burger Week and La Poutine Week. “The local food culture is extremely strong, so we felt, ‘Why not bring La Poutine Week into the mix and see the amazing creations our participating restaurants come up with?'”

Much like summer’s successful Le Burger Week, La Poutine Week calls on chefs to serve up their unique take on the French-Canadian classic comfort food. Each restaurant will then offer their singular creations at special prices, encouraging foodies to try as many as possible and vote on their faves.
If Le Burger Week is any indication, we’re in for some pretty special poutines. While potatoes, cheese and gravy are a must, that’s where the similarities stop.
Can you guess this entry from the stylish decor? Yep, Rudy’s will be in on the fun for La Poutine Week and we can’t wait to try this masterpiece!

At the end of La Poutine Week, there will be awards for Judge’s Choice, Most Original Poutine and Kingsey’s Best Poutine (people’s choice).
Some of the local restaurants in the running (so far) include Barley Brothers, Carnaval, Cibo, La Roca, Marion Street Eatery, Prairie 360, Rudy’s, The Handsome Daughter, and a couple of our partner businesses, including The Oakwood Cafe and Whitestar Diner.

So although your New Year’s resolution may be coming to an end sooner than expected, you still have a bit of time (and a little extra motivation) to eat those salads and run those circuits. Plus, you can always start over on Feb. 8.
