We Were There: Lost in Artsp_ce

On Thursday, Aug. 25, Artspace opened its doors to the public for an epic 30th anniversary celebration. Featuring great music, tasty snacks, delicious drinks and – of course – amazing art, it was a night we won’t soon forget.

We were greeted with planetary chocolates from the incomparable Constance Popp.

And popcorn. Because what’s a party without popcorn?!

Followed by tasty snacks from King + Bannatyne on the second floor (Manitoba beets, harissa, feta, basil and dukkah on a flax seed baguette).

Washed down with some delicious local brew from Little Brown Jug.

There was amazing art on every floor, including Dinka Pignon’s ‘Pool’ exhibit.

And readings from local authors like Chadwick Ginther, Jason Stefanik and Margaret Sweatman.

From there, we sampled some local spirits from Capital K.

And danced them off in the totally groovy disco closet.

Then we hit up the Forth cocktail lounge for some live jazz from the Neil Watson Trio.

And because socializing makes us hungry, it was time for another snack. Bring on the beautiful and delicious vegan galaxy grape doughnuts from Oh Doughnuts!

They went perfect with some live hallway music from Ashley Au.

Then it was on to the rooftop for some beautiful views of our beautiful city.

Muralist Pat Lazo was doing his thing.

The (almost) finished product.

Thanks for the memories, Artspace. Here’s to another 30 years!
