Canada’s largest and longest-running multicultural festival is in full swing. Try delicious authentic food, explore vibrant arts scenes and learn traditional dance steps at 40+ pavilions. All Weekend | Rendezvous with Madness Film Festival at Cinematheque

The first festival of its kind, Rendezvous with Madness investigates the facts and mythologies surrounding mental illness and addiction as presented by both Canadian and international filmmakers, as well as by visual and media-based artists. Head over to Cinematheque at 100 Arthur Street for Swift CurrentJuanicas and The Land of Not Knowing. Cost is $10 per screening. Check out their website for all show times.

August 11 | Movies in the Park | 7 p.m.

Every Friday in August, Assiniboine Park’s Lyric Theatre will be showing summer blockbusters on a cinema-style outdoor screen. For free! This week’s double feature includes Finding Dory (7 p.m.) and Captain America: Civil War (9:15 p.m.).

August 11 | High Valley and Petric at the Club Regent Event Centre | 8 p.m.

Get your country on – family style. Winnipeg brothers Jason and Tom Petric of Petric will open for Alberta brothers Brad and Curtis Rempel of High Valley on Friday night. Tickets are available at ticketmaster.ca.

August 11 | Colour by Numbers at the Handsome Daughter | 10 p.m.

Good food + live music = a perfect Friday night. Head over to the Handsome Daughter on 61 Sherbrook in Wolseley to hear the new Colour by Numbers EP, Among the Stars. Tickets are $10 in advance at Into the Music and Music Trader, or $12 at the door.

August 11 & 12 | Ivan Decker at Rumors Comedy Club

One of Canada’s leading young comedians, Ivan Decker is a hilarious voice for the millennial generation. Living in Vancouver, his fun and silly approach to stand up often reveals the humor hiding in the everyday trials of today’s young adult with careful dissection, brilliant timing, and intelligent observation. August 11 & 12 | Winnipeg BBQ and Blues Fest

The 6th annual Winnipeg BBQ & Blues Festival will take over Smith Street in front of the Burton Cummings Theatre Friday and Saturday, and will feature the best in international, national and local blues performers. Get your tickets at ticketmaster.ca.

August 10-31 | Mamma Mia! at Rainbow Stage | 8 p.m

Directed by Ann Hodges, this hilarious and heartwarming production tells the story of a daughter’s quest to discover the identity of her father. Mamma Mia! runs from August 10 – 31. Tickets start at $39 and can be bought at tickets.rainbowstage.ca.

August 13 | Jazz in the Leo Mol Sculpture Garden | 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Enjoy the very best of the local jazz scene surrounded by blooming flowers, flowing fountains, and beautiful works of art. This weekend’s featured artist is Marco Castillo.

August 13 | Summer Music Series at The Lyric Theatre | 7 p.m.

Assiniboine Park’s Lyric Theatre presents a free outdoor concert featuring local country artist Leanne Pearson.

August 13 | Grand Summer Party | 2 p.m.

After two weeks of sports, festivals and fun, the Canada Summer Games will come to an end, but not after one final party. The closing ceremonies will begin at 2 p.m. at Investors Group Field and will include performances by Fred Penner, Sierra Noble and Brett Kissel.
