What's Up In WPG: Nov 17-19
November 17 | Everything Chocolate | 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Taking place at the Hilton Winnipeg Airport Suites, this annual event says it all. A dessert lover’s dream, the celebration of chocolate lets you sample and purchase sweets, fudge and other chocolate-inspired foods from 40+ local vendors. They will also have cooking demos featuring a few local chefs. Tickets are $75, with proceeds going to the Canadian Cancer Society.
November 17 – 19 | JimCon Tabletop Games Convention
JimCon is an annual tabletop gaming event. Hosted by Bronx Park Community Centre, it will feature 200+ scheduled games, eight sponsored tournaments, local game designers and vendors, and more than 500 games in their pick-and-play library. November 18 | Winnipeg Santa Claus Parade | 5 p.m.
It may be a bit early, but the wintery weather is perfect for this year’s Santa Claus parade. As usual, the route will run down Portage Avenue and feature flashy floats for the whole family to enjoy. There will also be pre-parade activities like street hockey and salsa dancing throughout downtown. But plan ahead: With the Jets game at 2 p.m.,
November 18 | Winnipeg Jets vs. New Jersey Devils | 2 p.m.
While the red-hot Jets have been playing their best hockey in some time, this game is extra special. Finding himself with an extra ticket, local superfan Ryan DeLong surprised a complete stranger (single mother and recovering cancer patient Leslie MacKay) by inviting her to the game. November 18 | Pizza With Franco Pepe | 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
By now you probably know that Red Ember pizza opened a permanent location at The Forks. On Saturday afternoon, they’ll host one of the top pizzaiolos in the world, Franco Pepe. Hailing from the tiny village of Caiazzo, Italy, Pepe will share his secrets and show off his technique. $40 will get you two slices of za along with wine and an afternoon to remember.
