What's Up In WPG: Sept 15-17
September 15 | Brew at the Zoo | 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Winnipeg’s first edition of Brew at the Zoo is celebrating the city’s thriving craft beer scene with an after-hours, adult-only party at – you guessed it – Assiniboine Park Zoo. The event will feature sud sampling from more than 25 breweries (including a dozen local ones), food truck fare and live music from local group The Proud Sons. But we hope you got your tickets early; the event’s been sold out for weeks.
September 15 & 16 | Winnipeg Design Festival
The Winnipeg Design Festival is the largest annual event of StorefrontMB and the first festival in the province dedicated to the promotion and celebration of local design culture. Check out the schedule of events to see what’s in store for the remainder of the week.
September 16 | Winnipeg Jets Fan Fest | 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Kick off the upcoming hockey season with a bang. Everyone is invited to the Bell MTS Iceplex for tons of free, family-friendly fun including contests, ice training camp sessions, Q+A’s, obstacle courses, and much more.
September 16 | Winnipeg VegFest
Calling all animal lovers, vegetarians, vegans and the veg-curious: there’s finally an event catered specifically to you. Hosted by the University of Winnipeg, the city’s first-ever VegFest will include a full day of food, education and fun (not to mention a vegan Mac n’ Cheese competition!). Entrance is free and the doors open at 9 a.m. See you there!
September 16 & 17 | Winnipeg Goldeyes vs. Wichita Wingnuts
Batter up! The Goldeyes continue their hunt for the league title with Games 3 (Saturday at 6:05 p.m.) and 4 (Sunday at 4:05 p.m.) of the championship series at Shaw Park. The best-of-five series is tied at one game apiece. Tickets are available online.
September 16 & 17 | Sarasvàti FemFest
A festival for everyone. Enjoy captivating plays, comedy, music, film, and poetry by women as they take audiences on a journey to self-discovery. The 15th annual festival also includes workshops, food, drinks and one heck of a party.
September 17 | We Are All Treaty People at The Forks | 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Spend the afternoon at The Forks celebrating and learning about Treaty One. There will be free food, music, games, dancing, art, and a ton of family activities like puppet making, a story teller, and crafts. You’ll also enjoy entertainment by Don Amero, Morris Dancers, Marcus Rempel, and words from Treaty One Commissioner Ross.
September 17 | Wayne’s World at the Handsome Daughter | 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.
Party time! Check out a Wayne’s World double feature at The Handsome Daughter on Sunday night. Dress up as Wayne and Garth and you and a pal could win free drinks. Plus, if you answer skill testing trivia questions, you can win even more drinks. This is our idea of a totally excellent Sunday night.
