Scout Coffee + Tea: A Coffee Shop For The Whole Family
For parents who love coffee shops, the struggle is real. Getting out of the house to work on the laptop, enjoy a cup of Joe or catch up with friends is one thing; entertaining the kiddos is quite another.
Thankfully for Winnipeggers, Scout: Coffee + Tea was designed with the entire family in mind. Inspired by the owners’ daughter, Stella Scout, the space at 859 Portage Avenue is fun, creative and kid-friendly. With everything from toys and games to the super popular Scout “campground,” it’s the perfect place for your little ones to keep busy and make new friends during your coffee dates.

But the whimsical play space is only part of Scout’s story. Even if you’re flying solo, their simple but tasty drink menu is reason enough to pop by. In addition to their delicious drip coffee and loose leaf teas, they serve up healthy smoothies, strong espresso and a latte to die for. It definitely doesn’t hurt that their beans are roasted locally by Black Pearl.
Scout also contributes to the neighbourhood’s overall sense of community by putting on crafting events, kids clothing swaps, meal planning workshops, Makers + Mochas Mini Markets and more. Basically, they’re all about bringing people together – and they do it in the best ways possible.
Our Makers + Mochas Mini Market is only two weeks away! — We’re so excited to feature some great local makers like @littlelovehome! — Supporting small businesses this Christmas means you’re helping make other local family’s Christmas dreams come true! — See you Thursday, November 15th from 6-9pm! — #winnipeg #winnipegmarket #madeinmanitoba #madeinwinnipeg #ywg #handmade
But the best thing about Scout may just be their love for local. In addition to their mini markets, they carry locally-baked goods from La Belle Baguette and another one of our partner businesses, Oh Doughnuts. They also have a “Shop Local Shelf” dedicated to products from some of the province’s most talented makers.
And because Scout loves local so darn much, they also give We Heart Winnipeg members a large hot beverage for the price of a small – all day, every day. If you don’t have your We Heart Winnipeg card yet, get it here. If you do, head on down to Scout and say hello. They’d love to meet you.
